What is Chi Nei Tsang?
Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) is a healing touch therapy from China, it was first used a thousand years ago by Taoist monks to help detoxify, strengthen and refine their bodies in order to maintain the energy needed for their spiritual pursuits. It focuses on deep, gentle abdominal massage in order to “train” the internal abdominal organs to work more efficiently and improve physical and emotional health.
Taoist Sages observed that humans often develop energy blockages in their internal organs which then formed knots and tangles in the abdomen. These obstructions occur at the centre of the body’s vital functions and constrict the flow of Chi (energy) or life-force. The negative emotions of fear, anger, anxiety, depression and worry are said to damage the organs the most.
The abdomen is also our energetic centre, or core
The navel area also plays a key role in the body. It is referred to as ‘the original scar’ because this is where the foetus first connected to the mother in the womb. Both nutrition and waste travel through the umbilical cord and due to body-memory toxins have a tendency to accumulate in this area.
The abdomen is also our energetic centre, or core. This is our Chi battery, where energy is stored. If this area is blocked with physical and emotional toxins, it will not be able to do its job properly. Always in search of an outlet, any negative emotions and toxic energies create a perpetual cycle of negativity and stress, and if they cannot find an outlet, will build up in the organs and then move into the abdomen and navel area. The abdomen can process some of this energy, but more often it cannot keep up with the flow. Thus the energetic centre of the body becomes congested and ultimately disconnected from the rest of the body.
It is important to emphasise that CNT treats the whole person on all levels. It does not attempt to treat symptoms or cure illness, but is designed to create change and transformation by energising and bringing awareness, allowing the person to listen to their body, creating a greater relationship with mind and body.

Under the following circumstances, it is not possible to receive chi nei tsang treatment:
a) if you are pregnant
b) if you have a pacemaker for your heart
c) if you have any of the following medical conditions:
Thrombosis (blood clots)
Phlebitis (inflammation of vein)
Melanoma (visible tumour w dark pigmented cells)
Lymphoma (disorder of lymph nodes)
Why? Chi nei tsang is highly effective in stimulating the flow of blood, lymphatic fluid and chi. This stimulation can put too much stress on the veins and arteries which are already under stress when these health conditions are present.
